Charles Johnson helped collect Hmong folktales from the refugee camps in Thailand in the late 1970s, and produced photocopied versions of illustrated tales in two levels of English. They are also in Hmong. Words from these tales ended up being used in the paj ntaub (story cloths) produced in the camps for sale to the west.
